Auto Registration Configuration

Auto registration and auto configuration are available to devices using the device-initiated communication profile.

Auto registration allows a device to automatically register with the Universal Device Manager. You can test, initialize, and examine the registration report of a registered device that has not yet been configured, but you cannot send transactions to Timekeeping through the Universal Device Manager until the device has been configured.

Auto configuration downloads a specified Device Profile to a device. Because you can specify only one profile per device type, auto configuration is optimal for environments in which many devices use the same or similar profiles.

To configure auto registration and, optionally, auto configuration for a given tenant:

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Device.
  2. Select Actions > Auto Registration Configuration.
  3. Configure the following fields and click tap Save.
  4. Field Description
Allow Auto Register Select to allow this tenant's devices to auto-register with the application.
    Default Device Password*

Default password for this tenant's devices.

    Note:

Password validation is a security measure that is required for each device. The password allows the Universal Device Manager to identify the device for operations such as softloading firmware and making Smart View transactions. (See the "Configure a Smart View password section" in Smart Views.)

Confirm Password* Re-enter the default password.
Allow Auto Configuration Select to allow this tenant's devices to auto-configure.
Time Zone* If auto-configuration is enabled, select the time zone of this tenant's devices from the drop-down list.

If auto-configuration is enabled, select the device profile to be assigned to this tenant's InTouch or 4500 devices. Click Tap Save when you are done.
