- Gate schedules
- Gate schedule assignment groups.
Gate schedules are not supported by InTouch.
Note: You can configure a device to activate a gate or a bell, but not both.
The Bells & Gates template consists of two tabs
Edit the fields in these tabs. Required fields are marked by an asterisk (*). When you are done with your edits:
- Ensure that the Name field is not blank. It should contain the name of a template that you are editing or the unique name of the template that you are creating.
- Select one of the guided Save changes to options. See Device and Profile view template save options for more information.)
- ClickTap Save to save your edits or clicktap Cancel to dispose of them.
Use the Bells tab to configure devices that are equipped with a bell and power source. These devices ring a bell at specific times to mark events, such as shift or break start and end. You can also configure the bell to ring as a warning before the scheduled times.
The bell schedule consists of the settings, including the optional warning bell settings, to ring one bell. You can create an unlimited number of bell schedules, but you can assign no more than 48 schedules to a single device.
To define a bell schedule:
- Enter the bell Ring Time in hours and minutes (hh:mm). Midnight is 00:00. The format of this setting depends on the display setting in the Timekeeping application.
- Enter a ring Duration of 1–9 seconds.
- Select the days of week to which the schedule applies.
- If you want to configure a warning bell, select the Warning check box and enter the warning bell Interval in minutes. This setting determines how much time elapses between the ringing of the warning bell and the ringing of the bell that signals the scheduled event.
- Enter the Duration of the warning bell in seconds.
- To add additional rows, clicktap add
- Select one bell schedule as the Default schedule.

A gate can be a door, turnstile, or other device that is controlled by an electronic lock. You can configure a schedule for devices to control gate entry based on time-enforcement rules. You can create an unlimited number of gate schedules. However, you can assign no more than seven Gate Open or Gate Off schedules to a single device.
- Gate Open Schedule — The time when the gate remains unlocked. A user does not have to perform a transaction at the device to open the gate during this period.
- Gate Off Schedule — The time when the gate remains locked, even if an employee performs a transaction that would otherwise unlock the gate. A manager-only transaction must be performed at the device to open the gate.
If the device supports gate entry, select Enable Badge Open Gate. Any successful transaction at the device or at a badge reader attached to the device will open the gate.
Define the Gate passback interval to be the time allowed (0–255 minutes) between two swipes from the same badge that do not generate two punches. For example, an employee swipes the badge, but does not open the gate in time. The employee then swipes the badge again. If both swipes are within the defined gate passback interval, only one punch is generated.
Specify the time (1–30 seconds) that a gate can remain open after access is given and before being considered a security lapse. Allow enough time for employees to swipe their badges and open the corresponding gate.
Select Employee badge format, which accepts any badge format, or Home employees only, which accepts home-employee badges only.
If a soft key is assigned for gate entry, you can enable the device to store gate entry punch transaction records. Use the following options:
- Entry—Tracks badge IDs of employees who are granted entry
- Violation—Tracks badge ID of employees who are not granted entry
- Override—Tracks badge ID of employees who are granted access due to a manager or supervisor override
To define a gate schedule:
- Enter the gate Start Time in hours and minutes (hh:mm). The default time is 12:00 AM (12-hour format). The format is 12-hour or 24-hour, depending on the settings in the Timekeeping application.
- Enter the Duration as the length of time that the gate schedule is active in each 24-hour period (hh:mm). For example, a setting of 01:00 means the gate is either open or off for 1 hour on each day in which the schedule is active. The minimum duration is 1 minute.
- Select the days of week to which the schedule applies.
- Select the method to use for applying the schedule. Open means that the gate remains unlocked so that a user does not have to perform a transaction at the device to open it. Off means that a gate remains locked, even if an employee performs a transaction that would otherwise unlock the gate.
- To add additional rows, click tap add
- Select one gate schedule as the Default schedule.
