Create a custom mapping category

A mapping category defines which transactions from Timekeeping and Scheduling are used to calculate a metric.

To create a new mapping category:

  1. Open the Main Menu and navigate to Administration > Application Setup > KPI Builder > Mapping Category Definition. A table lists the Name, Description, Mapping Category Type, and Type (STANDARD or CUSTOM) of each existing mapping category.
  2. You can sort this list by the contents of any column by clicking tapping the column heading. Clicking toggles between an alphabetical or reverse alphabetical sort.
  3. You can filter this list by clicking tapping Filter and entering a search string in one or more of the empty cells immediately beneath the column headings.
  4. You can condense the table by removing any unpinned columns (columns with a blue heading). Click Tap Column Selection and select or deselect the appropriate columns.
  5. Click Tap Create . The New Mapping Category Definition page appears.
  6. Enter a name and description for the new mapping category.
  7. Select a mapping category type from the drop-down list. Available types include EXCEPTION, PAYCODE, LABORTYPE, GENERICJOB, PUNCHVARIANCETYPE, VOLUMEDRIVER, ADJUSTMENTDRIVER, and TIMEENTITYITEMTYPE. Your selection determines which objects appear in the Entity Name table and are eligible to be assigned to the mapping category.
  8. Use the filter option to locate and select the entities that you want to assign to the new mapping category and click tap Assign to add them to the mapping category. The currently assigned entities are listed at the top of the Mapping Category Entities section of the page.
  9. To remove any entity from the mapping category, select that entity and click tap Un-assign .
  10. Click Tap Save when you are finished.
  11. If you created a pay code mapping category and want to exclude certain pay codes from time calculations:
    1. Navigate to KPI Builder > Mapping Category Definition.
    2. Select the mapping category and click tap Exclude .
    3. In the "Exclude select entities" page, select the Cost Only check box for those pay codes that you want to exclude.
    4. Click TapApply.
  12. You now have a mapping category that can be used in a metric definition.

Example:

Assume that managers want to see the number of hours related to Leave. A system administrator enters the following information in the mapping category definition:

  • Name: Leave
  • Description: Hours associated with Leave
  • Mapping Category Type: pay code
  • Selected pay codes: Maternity Leave Hours, Medical Leave Hours
